Radical Sheep and Treehouse in Development For Animated Series Based On Best-Selling Preschool Books

Radical Sheep Productions, leading Canadian producer of children's and family programming, is pleased to announce a deal with Treehouse to develop a new children's property entitled Stella and Sam. The show will be an adaptation of the cherished book series Stella and Sam by acclaimed writer-illustrator Marie-Louise Gay.

Loved for her works in both English and French, Marie-Louise Gay is a two-time recipient of the Governor General's Literary Award (with seven additional nominations over the course of her career). She is also the winner of two Amelia France Howard-Gibbon Awards and two Mr. Christie's Book Awards for her various illustration and literary works. Gay is a true Canadian treasure. Her critically-acclaimed "Stella" and "Sam" series have been translated into 16 different languages and has sold nearly 800,000 copies worldwide.

The television series will feature the effervescent big sister Stella and her little brother Sam and will focus on how their imaginative exploration of the natural world leads to little discoveries about themselves. Sticking closely to the playful and light tone of the book series, Stella and Sam will continue to extol the wonder of fantasy play, where a cardboard box becomes a sailboat and the backyard a vast and conquerable ocean; where playtime is only limited by the expanse of a child's imagination.
